Name of organization

The name of this organization shall be MOTON HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION.

PURPOSE

The purpose of this organization will be to

  1. Provide book awards and scholarships for deserving African Americans who plan to further their Education in a chosen career or profession.
  2. To foster the legacy perpetuated at Moton High School where all students matriculated.

MEMBERSHIP

All students who attended Robert Russa Moton High School shall be members of the Moton High School Alumni Association.

OFFICERS/OFFICES

SECTION 4.1 Elected Officers. The elected officers of this association shall be the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.

SECTION 4.2 Appointed Offices. The Historian and Chaplain shall be Appointed by the President.

SECTION 4.3 Duties of Officers. The officers of this association shall have the powers and duties noted in this document.

SECTION 4.4 President. The President shall preside at all membership and executive meetings. The President will appoint Chairpersons of all committees not elected by the membership and perform other functions and duties as may be voted from time to time by the general membership. The President will serve as a member of all committees except the Nominating Committee.

SECTION 4.5 Vice President. The duties of the Vice President shall be to preside over all meetings and perform all the duties of the office of the President in his/her absence or at the request of the President.

SECTION 4.6. Secretary. The Secretary shall record the minutes of all meetings. The secretary will keep on file all committee reports and write and respond to communications for this association.

SECTION 4.7. Treasurer. The treasurer shall receive and keep a record of all monies received for this association. The treasurer shall submit a written monthly report of all income and disbursements for the association.

SECTION 4.8. Historian. The Historian shall maintain and update the history of the Association.

SECTION 4.9. Chaplain. The Chaplain shall perform religious rites at each meeting and keep us abreast of members in the hospitals, etc.

COMMITTEES AND DUTIES

SECTION 5.1. The Moton Alumni Association will have three standing committees. They are: Fundraising Committee, Scholarship Committee, and Activities Committee.

SECTION 5.2. Fundraising Committee. The Fundraising Committee will be responsible for planning programs/activities to raise funds for the Moton High Alumni Association.

SECTION 5.3. Scholarship Committee. The Scholarship Committee will identify the criteria used for book awards and scholarships. They will identify procedures used in selecting candidates and present the awards. The information will be presented to the membership of this association for approval. Awards and Scholarships will be given at the two High School Awards Assembly.

SECTION 5.4. Activities Committee. The Activities Committee will be responsible for planning all activities for this association. (Ole Moton Night)

MEETINGS

SECTION 6.1. Executive Committee. The Executive Committee will consist of the officers and Chairs of all committees. This committee will meet as needed.

SECTION 6.2. Alumni Meetings. The Moton High School Alumni Association will meet the first Saturday in each month at 6:00 P. M. The meeting will be held at the Blake Blackston Post #77 American Legion unless notified otherwise.

A nominating committee will be elected three months prior to the election.

ELECTIONS

SECTION 8.1. Elections. Elections will be held biennially in 2003.

SECTION 8.2. Voting. Voting will be done by majority present.
